Narberth 2
Monkton Swifts 3

A clinical hat trick from james Russell at Narberth impressively lifted Monkton Swifts up to third in the table in the only top flight game played in Pembrokeshire on Saturday.

All other six scheduled Division One matches fell victim to torrential rain.

The visitors opened the scoring on the 30 minute mark, as Russell beat the Bluebirds’ offside trap and the striker ran clear and duly slotted past keeper Jason Jones.

The Swifts held onto a slender one-goal cushion at half time, as the Jesse Road surface understandably cut-up.

Ten minutes after the break and The Swifts went 2-0 ahead, this time Russell unleashing a low 12 yard finish.

However, the Bluebirds mounted a fightback and were rewarded when they pulled a goal back in the 65th minute.

A direct corner in the box fell kindly to player manager Morgan Preece who instinctively slotted home from close range.

It got better for the hosts five minutes later when they equalised. A neat move released Chris Brown and he made no mistake with an 18-yard finish.

But there was another late twist to this end to end clash as Russell bagged a 75th minute winner.

The striker latched onto another through ball, kept his composure, and buried his effort home from a one-on-one with Jones to secure three excellent away points for the high-flying Swifts.
