West Wales Intermediate Cup Quarter Finals:

Goodwick United 2-0 Ystradgynlais

SECOND half goals from Jordan Griffiths and Matty Delaney earned Goodwick United a thoroughly deserved cup win over Ystradgynlais at Phoenix Park, and a place in the last four of the competition.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, The Phoenix Lads broke the deadlock midway through the second period, as Stef Hayes’ long throw into the box was flicked on by Scott Delaney - and was met by a brilliant far post diving header by Griffiths.

This inspired Wayne O’Sullivan’s Goodwick outfit and they secured the tie ten minutes from full time, an excellent cross in the box was met by Delaney, and the young midfielder side-footed in at the back stick from close range.

It means that Goodwick, who last won the West Wales Intermediate Cup back in 2016 when they beat Morriston Olympic 2-1, are now just two 90 minutes away from a second Liberty Stadium appearance in two years.

But first they face another Pembrokeshire side in Carew in what promises to be a huge clash tomorrow (Tuesday) - with a 7.30pm kick off at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium.

The venue has been chosen in order to ensure a big local crowd at Haverfordwest.
