SOME of Sir Thomas Picton’s favourite netballing 'daughters' returned to their old stomping ground on Friday to take on the school’s current senior team.

The fixture, organised by PE teacher Delyth Truman, celebrated the end of a sporting era at STP, with the school soon to merge with Tasker Milward.

The current side, fresh from playing in the national finals, took an early lad but once the 'old girls' brushed off the cobwebs they began to find their rhythm with some excellent shooting by Philippa Gale and Hannah Gover.

Experience eventually edged the talented youthful side and the game ended 22-17 to the old girls, some of which still play regularly while others had not played since their school days some 15 years ago.

Speaking after the game, Mrs Truman said: “The game rekindled some amazing memories with some amazing people that I’ve been fortunate to teach, coach and compete with over the last 24 years.”

STP current team: Millie Tweed, Georgie Blair, Shauna Phillips, Megan Cardy, Megan Edwards, Sophia Isaac Ahmed, Stevie Griffiths, Abbie Rees.

STP old girls: Colette Raymond, Ellie Pinson, Philippa Gale, Hannah Nicholas, Ceri Coleman-Phillips, Rebecca Haggar, Ruth Nicholas, Joanna Ellerby, Vicki Travers-Milne, Diana Lewis, Liz Reed, Hannah Gover, Kate Corby, Kim Tiglao, Kamille Tiglao, Sarah Wilkie.
