Helen James was thrilled to be crowned British women’s autograss class one champion recently.
The talented driver comes from Freystrop, on outskirts of Haverfordwest, and has raced competitively for four year. The 27-year-old started the 2009 season with a newly built Mini sporting a DNG race engine. Her season began superbly as she well won the ‘Map Open’ in May, as well as winning other local races. The following month she finished third in the nationals.
Helen raced across the country and led the British autograss series championship at the end of round three, and went on to win class one; and shared first place for the overall women’s championship.
An awards ceremony took place in Birmingham in November, where Helen was presented with the trophy and crowned class one champion.
“I am very proud of my achievement and would like to say thank you to all of my family, especially my husband Gareth,” said delighted Helen.
