Division four west - MILFORD Haven gained a bonus point win at Aberaeron to keep them in touch for the title.

The Mariners are only three points behind Amman United, with a game in hand, and just two points adrift of second-placed Llanelli Wanderers.

This was the Mariners third win over Aber this season, two league meeting and a Swalec Bowl success.

There were good displays from Rhys Thompson, Jamie Parr, Craig Smith, Matthew Doncaster and Gareth Fawcett.

Coach Alan McClelland was delighted by the way that his young team played as they led 22-3 at half-time. Top of the points’ chart was full back Leigh Broome, with 20 points from a try in each half, two conversions and two penalties.

Other tries came from scrum half Aaron Sprowell, plus wingers Lee Riley and Craig Jones as the Mariners claimed a bonus point.

The visitors showed their capabilities against a useful side who could only muster a penalty and try by No 10 Owain Williams.

McClelland will be pushing them to the limit in training so they can reach their full potential in the run in for a possible title.

There was a minute’s silence before the start as a mark of respect for Ken Wonnacott, a great Milford stalwart whose grandson Mark was again outstanding in the back row.
