Scarlets' environmental partner, Dragon Energy Solutions, have extended their partnership and sponsorship of the Scarlets for the 2014-15 season.

Earlier this year Dragon Energy Solutions installed the largest solar array on a sporting facility in the UK on the roof of the Delme Thomas Centre, Parc y Scarlets, as Scarlets looked to push the boundaries in the latest trend of environmentalism in sport.

The 250kWp array, designed, and installed by Dragon Energy Solutions, is expected to generate around 239,000kWh of electricity every year. The Scarlets rugby region is expected to make significant savings on their energy costs and save a staggering 2,300 tonnes of CO2 over 20 years. Year to date the array has already produced a staggering 150,000KWH in its first 6 months of operations well ahead of expected yields.

Dragon Energy Solutions have further extended their support of the region by becoming a kit sponsor for the first time this season. The partnership sees the Dragon Energy logo on the back of both home and away Scarlets jerseys.

As part of a wider sponsorship agreement Dragon Energy will also sponsor returning All Black Regan King throughout the 2014-15 season.

Commenting on the partnership, Jason Oakley, co-founder and Director at Dragon Energy Solutions, said; "Being awarded and completing the work on the solar array at Parc y Scarlets earlier this year was a huge honor and privilege for us as a Llanelli based company, it has further enhanced our considerable reputation and attracted some high profile businesses to follow in the steps of the Scarlets in becoming sustainable whilst reducing their huge energy costs via our free funded model.

"We are a local company who employ local people from our community, and it's great to be able to showcase our work at such an iconic location.

"To become long term sponsors and renewable energy partners of the Scarlets, as lifelong supporters of the region, means a lot to us on both a personal and professional level.”
