DERWEN fairs will be returning to Queen Elizabeth High School, Johnstown, Carmarthen on Saturday, August 1 for another vintage antiques sale.
Established just over 17 years ago, the fairs have gone from strength to strength.
Browse among the outside stalls where you could find a bargain or two before heading on inside with more than 50 stands spreading out, inside the grounds and two halls.
Being a Welsh fair will be a good collection of Welsh pottery, including Swansea, Llanelli, Glamorgan and some impressive early pieces of Ewenny pottery. We have a very good valuation service at the fair, where the public can bring in items for a free valuation and receive expert advice from the stallholders.
The standard is high and there will be no shortage of quality antiques. For the more discerning collectors there will be some rare pieces of Chinese porcelain on show, some dating back to the 16th century.
To appeal to the wider audience, variety is so important, the range is impressive, from stands exhibiting traditional Welsh linen, blankets and hand stitched quilts to displays of exquisite vintage clothes, the fair does seem to satisfy most areas of collecting. This variety and quality of antiques means that there is bound to be something to suit everyone’s taste and budget.
On show will be some excellent displays of period oak and country pine furniture, along side some fine antique silver, Staffordshire figures, quality jewellery, prints, paintings, postcards, toys, textiles, fishing reels, bottles, quality glass, a huge book collection and 60’s retro plus much, much more
Militaria will also be a feature at the fair, including medals, Ceremonial swords, badges and uniforms.
The whole ethos of the fair is to provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with traditional Welsh hospitality. With ample free parking and home cooked refreshments available, the fair is an ideal place to visit over the summer holidays.
Queen Elizabeth High School Johnstown Carmarthen can easily be found off the slip road, past B&Q on the A40, and following the signs for the Leisure Centre.
The doors open at the school from 10am and close at 5pm.
