DESCRIBED as one of the most musically adventurous and pioneering folk bands of their time, Lau will be performing live at Cardigan’s Theatr Mwldan on Friday, November 17 at 7.30pm.

Lau create beautiful and beguiling soundscapes that are both experimental and unique; they defy expectations of what a classic folk band should sound like.

This free-thinking approach, paired with their brilliant musicianship has won them The BBC Folk Award for Best Band four times over.

The individual members - Kris Drever (vocals, guitar), Martin Green (accordion, wurlitzer, keys, electronics) and Aidan O’Rourke (fiddle) - have also all won multiple awards and recognition for their acclaimed solo works.

Described by The Guardian as “an exhilarating live band, thanks to the often improvised, complex interplay between fiddle, accordion, guitar and electronica” they show no signs of losing their momentum.

“Lau have improved with every subsequent release and I don’t believe that this trend will end anytime soon,” says Songlines.

This year they embarked on their “The Decade of Lau (Best of)” world tour, and it promises to be something extra special. They will play a unique live set, featuring all their greatest material from across the last decade.

An evening with the multi-award winning, ground-breaking experimental folk trio.

“Lau are a remarkable band – the most musically adventurous trio in British folk exquisite and hypnotic, musicianship at its best,” adds The Guardian.

“The intuitive and often beautiful interplay of accordion, fiddle and guitar glides to a new level as instrumental virtuosity blends easily with tasteful electronics,” says Mojo.

“For alternative music lovers as much as folk fans, brimming over with intoxicating, mesmerising music,” writes BBC Music
