A programme packed full of talent.

According to news reports, young people are a plague of hooded urchins who would rob your grandmother just to buy cider.

The Southwest Youthfest aims to show that youngsters are not just scruffy, but are also a talented bunch.

The event, which takes place at Withybush Showground, Haverfordwest, on Saturday, calls itself a celebration of young people' and the blistering programme of bands, DJs, workshops and demonstrations looks great.

Now in its second year, the Youthfest, organised by the Garage Youth Club, promises lots of adrenaline-soaked fun including stunt bikes, drum demonstrations and lantern making - something for everyone then.

The line-up of live music is also impressive.

An extensive selection of the county's most stellar acts is tempting indeed.

The slightly psychedelic, hard-edge alt-rock band Random Perception, from Fishguard, are a must-see.

Their own material is fun and noisy with some great grungy references and their set is punctuated with some well-executed covers - they do a great version of Muse's My Time is Running Out.

The Trials are a feast of jangly guitars and hooky indie, they put on a great show, liberally sprinkled with cover versions of The Libertines and other modern guitar pop.

Don't miss the exhilarating Johnny Action Finger. The horn-driven engine of a band will be pounding out all the usual infectious ska tones and bouncy beats.

For funky monkeys, check out Renthouse Groove with their authentic, slick soul and funk show, or if metal is more your bag, catch the behemoth which is Blacktooth, fresh from recent victory at Puretech Promotion's battle of the bands.

Of course, Don't forget to come and see OK, who will be playing at about 10.30pm.

There will be a dance tent from 6pm to 12pm and there is talk of an open mic stage, which seems to be glorified karaoke.

The Southwest Youthfest is on from noon to midnight on Saturday at Withybush Showground.

Tickets are a steal at £10, call 01437 769523 for information or visit www.southwest youthfest.co.uk.
