LLŶR Williams will be performing a piano recital at Rhosygilwen on October 27 and 28.

Born in Pentrebychan, North Wales, Williams read music at The Queen’s College, Oxford and went on to take up a postgraduate scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music where he won every available prize and award.

He is widely admired for his profound musical intelligence, and for the expressive and communicative nature of his interpretations.

An acclaimed performer of Beethoven and Schubert, he has several complete sonata cycles under his belt, most recently at Wigmore Hall and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, as well as a Concerto cycle with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

Five years ago Llŷr agreed to curate the Rhosygilwen Schubertiade and has continued in that role. This year he has put together another fantastic programme of music together with Henry Ward, the St Dogmaels-based conductor.

On Saturday 27 (8pm), he performs a solo recital at Rhosygilwen of the works of Schubert’s Wanderer Fantasy and other compositions by Beethoven and Schumann.

On Sunday 28 at 7.30 pm he will perform the much loved Emperor Piano Concerto with orchestra and chorus. Cor Teifi and the soprano Gwawr Edwards also appear in the same programme.

Tickets can be obtained on rhosygilwen.co.uk or by calling 01239841387 during office hours.
