A TRIO of drama and performance workshops for children and young people is being staged by Narberth Youth Theatre (NYT) this Friday (February 21).

Each session has been designed to capture the imagination and creative energy of children and young people, through drama, movement and voice work.

NYT will be working in collaboration with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama ( RWCMD) Young Actors Studio to deliver a skills-based workshop for secondary school pupils aged 11 to 18.

And NYT is also opening its doors to younger actors aged from four to 11 this week, with the introduction of two drama workshops for those in Early Years and primary school.

“It has been nearly nine years since we launched NYT and we just want to keep growing," said NYT Artistic Director and professional theatre writer Meredydd Barker. "NYT was founded to give children and young people a safe place to create and come together. Such young talent should not be ignored”,

The first workshop, suitable for children aged four to six, takes place from 10.30am to 11.15am, with the second session, for youngsters from seven to 11, is from 11.15am to 12.30pm. The creative team will be experienced lead facilitator and children’s playwright Cherylee Barker, supported by actors and singers Katy Cheshire and Maisie Anwen.

The youth drama session, for ages 11 to 18, will be an adventurous 75-minute workshop, called Theatre in a Box. This will be led by former Lecoq-trained performance artist and now RWCMD Young Actors Studio facilitator, Vikki Perry.

The sessions will take place on the first floor of the Old Courthouse Narberth.

Workshops are £5 each, and early booking is advised as places are limited.
