THE 2016 Marloes Sands Midwinter Beach Clean on New Year’s Eve was a great success, thanks to the kind weather and plenty of sacks being provided by Keep Wales Tidy.
The informal event saw more than 30 volunteers took part, some of them beach walkers who on the spur of the moment asked for a bag so they could join in.
All the volunteers worked hard, young and old alike, and the total haul was 48 sacks, with plastic bottles and discarded fishing gear accounted for the bulk.
An eagle-eyed gatherer found yet another Hewlett Packard printer cartridge, which are still washing up, a long time after the original consignment was lost at sea near the Azores in 2014.
