Over the next few weeks the county will proudly host the two not-to-miss events of the summer, both of which promise to be fabulous in their own way. The Fishguard International Music Festival, held in a variety of locations, protected by all but catastrophic weather conditions, and the Celtic Blue Rock Festival - which may get messy if it rains a bit.
Event Feature: Fishgaurd Music Festival.
The idea of having anything more than a few pints and a kebab in Fishguard has always seemed optimistic to me.
However, the Fishguard International Music Festival has managed to bring high art to this quiet country town since 1970.
The Elgar-themed programme has been tweaked with a colourful mix of performers to suit a variety of tastes.
The world-renowned Swingle Singers add their jazz-influenced a cappella to the mix, Fine Arts Brass will demonstrate their incredibly versatile range and The Glenn Miller Sound, featuring Ray McVay (pictured below), will crank the fun up a bit with the big band sound.
The line up is impressive and star-studded: Peter Donohoe (pictured right) will be performing a piano recital on Wednesday at Rhos-y-Gilwen Mansion, Rhoshill; the Swingle Singers at Ysgol Bro Gwaun, on Monday and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, at St David's Cathedral, on Friday.
Due to popular demand, more of the events are taking place in Fishguard, with only the shows in Rhoshill and St David's Cathedral taking place outside Fishguard and Goodwick.
The town seems to have pulled together to make this happen, It is a truly Fishguardian event. Business sponsorship has padded the coffers and many local businesses have advertised in the programme, which was printed by Fishguard-based printers, The Pembrokeshire and Canine Press.

The last opportunity to get advance tickets to the Celtic Blue Rock Festival is coming up, July 21, and everyone is looking forward to the event.
There is a great mix of bands playing on the five stages, a craft area, eco zone and a parent/child area, it should be a great outing for all the family - drag old grandpa along too.
The potential highlights are as follows: Supergene will do their epic anthem thing on the main stage (the Cromlech Stage) on Saturday. Sharing the stage on that day are ska punk supremos Johnny Action Finger who will get the crowd bouncing and the unmissable, lush, indie melodies of OK.
Be sure to trudge, or skip (depending on the weather) over to the Annwn stage to catch Monty Pirates.
For full listings, check the website www.celticbluerock.org.uk.
The band set times were unconfirmed at time of press.
