South Wales Women’s Hockey League Division 2:
Milford Haven Ladies 4
Llan and Llan 1

A HAT trick from Milford’s player of the match Charlotte Davies inspired the home side to a big win over an experienced Llan and Llan team on Saturday.

The hosts made a lightening start as Rachel Coe broke down the right and found Aaliyah Coaker well positioned in the D, who slotted in a first time shot.

The visitors responded positively with several threatening breaks, but were halted by a well marshalled Milford defence.

And the solid defensive work paid off, as a Llan and Llan attack was intercepted by Georgia Davies who neatly set up Davies to double the lead before the break.

With a two-goal cushion, Milford began to assert control with some good contributions from youngsters Cerys Jones and Anya Ackermann - both making their home debuts – together with Kaitlyn Carlson and Coaker, who more than held their own.

After a flurry of opportunities, a skilful run by Davies and a solid strike from the top of the D found the backboard for the third goal.

Despite the robust work of Milford’s back three of Vicki John, Kate Farr and Meg Evans, as well as keeper Louise Bellamy, the visitors did hit back with a goal from a well worked short corner.

But the home side finished on a high with some incisive interplay releasing Coe, who squared for Davies to complete her hat-trick with a neat reverse stick shot.

It capped a great win for Milford as they went fourth in the table.
Captain Emma Summons said: “Another excellent team performance with good phases of play to create the goals. We have a week off now but will keep building before playing Gwent (November 18th).”
