SINGING starlet Connie Fisher will be returning home this week to meet with fans.

The 23-year-old theatre darling, from Hayscastle, will be at Victoria Bookshop, Haverfordwest, at 11.30am on Friday.

Connie will be at the store until 1pm and, according to event organiser Andrew Mathias, she is looking forward to posing for photos and signing autographs.

She will be at Riverside Quay from 2pm to 4pm.

Many people around the county voted for Connie when she shot to stardom by winning the BBC's reality TV show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Marie? and starring in The Sound of Music.

Since the show started she has received numerous impressive accolades and rave reviews and been praised by critics as one the best things to hit the West End in many a season.

One of the people who can honestly say they were there at the beginning is Mercury columnist Jeff Dunn.

Jeff said: "As many people know Connie was the winner of the very first Mercury Talent Show that I organised and I'm always being asked if I've spoken to her since. I haven't as yet but on Friday I just might.

"I'm going to try and have a word with her because she performed in one of my charity shows, Magic Moments, at the Torch and after the performance as she was leaving, I thanked her for taking time out from her music and drama college in London, and added One day, Connie, you're going to be in the West End.' "She laughed and said: Wouldn't it be nice?' "I never dreamt she'd become Queen of the West End' but if I get the chance I'm going to tell her I told you so'."
