MARY and Joseph, the angels, shepherds, three kings, and of course the baby Jesus, came to Wolfscastle on Thursday night to re-enact the Christmas story.

The village's living nativity, now in its thirteenth year, was acted out by the adult members of Pen y Bont Chapel who led the audience round the village to different scenes from the Christmas story.

Mary and Joseph, played by actors in their late 70s, rode into the village on Brambles the famous donkey.

The angels appeared to the shepherds on Alwyn's field and the play ended in the nearby stable owned by Alwyn and Mabel George.

Carols were sung to the accompaniment of Goodwick Brass band and the story was narrated by Wendy Raymond and Brian Jones. Baby Jesus was played excellently by Carys Lowri James.

After the nativity the audience enjoyed non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies in the chapel vestry, with a bucket collection raising funds for local charities.

"It was great, it was lovely," said Mrs Raymond. "We were lucky with the weather and it was a lovely atmosphere. It just comes together. It was really quiet ten minutes before we started. Then you turn around and people are everywhere. They just flock to it."
