FISHGUARD'S Rainbow Support Centre, which provides care and assistance for people suffering from life-limiting illness, has received a massive donation of £9,503 from last year's Pale Moon Party.

The annual party is organised by Pale Moon Charity Events, a small Pembrokeshire group set up three years ago by actor Jerome Flynn and friends, to raise funds for local charities and causes.

September's event saw Johnny Flynn, I see Rivers, Holly Holden and the Railway Sleepers perform as well as a fabulous auction.

The evening was a bittersweet event, as it took place just two days after Rainbow Support Centre, Yvonne Pye, died peacefully at home.

Tributes were paid to her at party by homoeopath and Rainbow Centre committee member, Amanda Clifford, who became a firm friend of Yvonne's over the years and Rainbow Centre patron Jerome Flynn.

"The Rainbow Support Centre in Fishguard were very blessed in when Jerome Flynn and the team from Pale Moon Events made the centre the main beneficiary from the successful evening held last year," said Amanda.

"We are all extremely grateful for the very generous donation and really look forward to supporting the wider community with any help that they require during their cancer diagnosis or life limiting illness. Help is also offered to family members and carers too."

The committee used Tuesday's cheque presentation to announce that the centre will shortly be moving home to become part of the new community hub at Fishguard Gateway Club.

"We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Mr and Mrs Barrie Thomas for the use of their building in West Street for over a year," said Amanda. "We are excited to report that we are currently moving to The Gateway Club and joining forces with Transition Bro Gwaun/Gateway.

"Together, we are hoping to build a thriving community hub."

The centre is still looking for volunteers and will also need help with decorating the new building.
