ASBESTOS is the biggest cause of occupational lung cancer, claiming more than 100,000 lives each year, according to charity Asbestos Awareness and Support Cymru.

Later this month, Pembrokeshire's asbestos support group will welcome Sarah Morgan, a specialist nurse who will lead a question and answer session about mesothelioma - a type of cancer most commonly associated with asbestos exposure.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, April 19, at Milford Haven Golf Club, SA73 3RX, at 10.30am.

A warm welcome is extended to all to learn more about what is being done to support those exposed to asbestos in Pembrokeshire and to help us raise awareness to prevent future victims.

At the last monthly meeting Amanda Jones, a specialist occupational disease solicitor, provided a fascinating presentation about the many cases of firms large and small, which have been prosecuted across Wales for exposing their workforce to the dangers of asbestos.

The meeting provides an opportunity for those with asbestos-related illnesses and their families to meet together in an informal group and share stories about treatment and work experiences.
