PARENTS and children will now have even more opportunities to play as the Mount Estate Parent Play Team (MEPPT) in Milford Haven has now officially launched its weekly play sessions.

Five incredibly hard-working parents have undertaken a number of accredited courses in order to run free weekly play sessions for the families living in the area.

The sessions are being held every Wednesday between 3.30pm and 5.30pm at The Orchard Community Centre on the Mount and the Parent Play Team invites all parents and their children to come and join in the fun.

Those up to 17 years of age are catered for and must be accompanied by their parents.

There is a wide selection of open access toys available together with a number of art and craft activities including a fire pit to sit around, have a chat and roast a marshmallow.

The Play Team has benefitted from a number of grants enabling them to purchase play uniforms in shocking pink and various pieces of play equipment.

External partners lending support includes Dyfed-Powys Police, Pembrokeshire County Council’s Learning Pembrokeshire Essential Skills and the Authority’s Learning and Development Team.

The team are now planning to expand their play provision to cover the summer holiday period.

County council play officer, Damian Golden, said: “Each of the accredited parents have worked tirelessly in preparation to launch the Mount’s very own play team. Their sheer dedication and enthusiasm has been inspirational.

“We know that the parents and children are going to have a fantastic time week after week and we wish them all the best on their play journey.”
