NEYLAND Ladies Choir travelled to Newport, Gwent, on June 23, to perform in a joint concert with Singing For Pleasure - a choir made up of ladies from all the WI clubs in the Newport and Caerphilly area.

The Singing For Pleasure choir was formed just over five years ago and are under the baton of Mark Heron, formerly of Haverfordwest.

The concert was in aid of Breast Cancer Care Cymru and raised the magnificent sum of just over £700.

The large audience were treated to pieces from both choirs - Singing For Pleasure's items included The Skye Boat Song, Mr Sandman, Hallelujah, come on get happy and Putting on the Ritz. Neyland Ladies included two new pieces - Christopher Robin is Saying His Prayers and This is Me from The Greatest Showman.

Neyland Ladies finished their section with an action packed medley of songs from the musical Chicago.

The choirs sang three joint pieces - Flying Free, Be Thou My Vision and The Lord Bless You and Keep You.

Following a welcome cup of tea and lovely cakes the Neyland Ladies made their way home - exhausted but happy in knowing that they had helped to raise funds for a very important charity and also having consolidated their friendship with the ladies from Singing For Pleasure.

Neyland Ladies will be performing at Millin Chapel this coming Sunday, July 29, at 7.30pm and at Sandy Hill Baptist Chapel Anniversary Service on Sunday, July 8, at 3pm.
