A group of parents will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon next Sunday to raise funds for Tirion's Rainbow. Tirion's Rainbow is a community group that was set up in memory of a special little girl who lost her life on July 13 2017 aged 5, just 6 weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour (a diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (Dipg) in her brainstem.

Tirion’s Rainbow wants to do something special in Llangwm to honour Tirion's short beautiful life and benefit the lives of children from the village and surrounding area, who include her two brothers and many special friends. Their aim is to create a natural play space that can be accessed and enjoyed by children of all ages and abilities, and also be a special place for all who knew and loved Tirion.

There will be 9 parents running on the day, all parents of children from Tirion's school, who include Tasmin Nash, Maria Galdes, Claire and Mark Evans, Jacqueline Warrender, Helen Jones, Kirstie Holder, Sian Dobbs and Beth Preddy (Tirion’s mum). Many of the ladies running had never run more than 5k before starting training for this event. It has taken a huge amount of dedication and hard work for all involved, and as October 7 approaches everyone is feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement.

Fund raising for this event has been really well supported on the just giving page, justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tirionsrainbow, and is currently at an incredible total of £1,683. Any further support in the final week of preparations would be so very appreciated. Tirion’s Rainbow would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to show their support so far “it is really helping everyone as we train to complete the 13.1 miles in Cardiff on Sunday”.
