NEYLAND community school headteacher Elisabeth Griffiths has announced she is standing down at the end of the year.

In the school's latest newsletter, Mrs Griffiths said she would be taking a new direction in her career, but would miss everyone at the school.

"It has been a privilege to be part of your community for the past 12 years," she said.

"Neyland has a special place in my heart and I shall carry all the memories of the hundreds of pupils I have known in that time with me.

"Each one was special and important to me.

"I leave the school in safe hands. The team of people who work here are fantastic.

"They are committed, dedicated and always strive to provide the very best opportunities for every child in their care.

"I wish everyone involved with the school, in whatever capacity, the very best for the future."

Mrs Griffiths' last day of employment will be December 31, with Mrs Jones taking on the role of acting headteacher and Mrs Moir returning as acting deputy.
