A MILFORD Haven athlete has earned a rest, after raising more than £2,000 for Withybush Hospital.

Chris Trueman recently donated £2,005 to Pembrokeshire Cancer Services, raised by taking on the Manchester Marathon, the Long Course Weekend and Ironman Wales.

Chris decided he wanted to raise money for Ward 10 and the Pembrokeshire Haematology Oncology Day Unit to say thank you for the exceptional care and support they had given to his mum Sylvia Trueman and mother-in-law Gill Burgoyne.

Chris and his wife Kate were overwhelmed by the support of the local community with donations being received by their local rugby club, cakes sales, slimming groups, work colleagues, sponsor forms and his online giving page.

Helen Johns, senior sister said: "Thank you so much to Chris for training and completing these challenges and raising a huge amount of money for Pembrokeshire Cancer Services.

"The £2,005 that Chris has raised will be used to enhance the care provided for cancer patients in Pembrokeshire.

"This donation will ensure that patients, their families and staff can access a wide range of specialist services and equipment beyond what the NHS can currently provide.

"Thank you so much to Chris and everyone who supported him."
