A BINGO fundraiser raised more than £1,000 to help children in Kenya last weekend.
On Sunday, December 16, the main hall of Neyland Athletic Club was packed for a charity fundraiser in aid of the Roko 20 Academy.
The school was set up in 2014 by former Neyland resident Tracey Neale.
It tutors 85 children, aged four to 14, and heavily relies on volunteers and sponsors in order to survive.
The school provides a free education for orphans and children from disadvantaged families, and also assists parents and guardians with small income-generating projects.
A cheque for £100 was also handed over by Cllr Simon Hancock from his mayoral charity fund.
"I was really pleased to make a donation," said Cllr Hancock.
"The successful event was due to prize givers, bingo players and callers Jonny Sutton and Danny Nash.
"This charity is transforming children's lives, giving them skills for life."
