A Neyland man has been fined for accidently insuring the wrong vehicle.
Shane Ian Turley, of Belle Vue Terrace, appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Monday, December 17, after previously pleading guilty to driving a vehicle without third party insurance,
Making a special reasons argument, Turley, who represented himself, told the court that he had been getting insurance quotes on internet comparison sites for several vehicles before purchasing his Nissan.
He mistakenly bought 12 months cover for the wrong vehicle, and believed he was covered when he was found driving the car near his home on August 27.
“I put the registration of the other vehicle into the insurance comparison site. It was an accident.”
The bench heard that Turley, 21, already had three points on his licence at the time of the offence.
Magistrates decided not to impose penalty points on Turley’s licence, but fined him £230 and ordered him to pay a £30 surcharge.
The chairman of the bench said: “Clearly you were not careful enough when insuring your car.
“Every vehicle on the road is dangerous, and you must take appropriate action when insuring it.”
