CONCERNS have been raised about the new waste collection service to be introduced in Ceredigion

Cllr Sian Maehrlein told a meeting of Cardigan Town Council that she had been contacted by a local resident who used incontinence products but did not wish to advertise this fact by putting out a separate rubbish sack for the new absorbent hygiene products collection service.

“The lady in question is not old and does not want her neighbours to know she is incontinent,” said Cllr Maehrlein.

“Even a different collection date would mean everyone on the street will know. There is no discretion there.”

Cllr Yvonne O’Neill agreed, adding: “This is a private and sensitive matter. It is something the county council needs to look at.”

Councillors agreed to raise the concerns with Ceredigion County Council.
