A SECOND highly-acclaimed singer-songwriter will be heading to Cardigan this summer when Billy Bragg performs at Cardigan Castle.

Hot on the heels of the news that KT Tunstall will be performing at the castle, Theatr Mwldan has now revealed that the legendary Bragg will also be part of what has now developed into a stunning line-up.

Bragg has been a fearless recording artist, tireless live performer and peerless political campaigner for more than 35 years.

Honoured with the PRS Outstanding Contribution to British Music award at the Ivor Novello awards in 2018, he is regarded as a valuable statesman of the music scene.

The intervening three-and-a-half decades have been marked by a number one hit single, having a street named after him, being the subject of a South Bank Show, appearing on stage at Wembley Stadium, curating Leftfield at Glastonbury, sharing spotted dick with a cabinet minister in the House of Commons cafeteria, being mentioned in Bob Dylan’s memoir, writing two non-fiction books (the second, Roots, Radicals & Rockers, was shortlisted for the Penderyn Music Book award) and meeting the Queen.

Bragg is currently playing to sold-out venues in the States on his ‘One Step Forward, Two Steps Back’ tour before he heads back to these shores later in the year.

“A true troubadour himself, Bragg’s “heart on his sleeve” candidness and advocacy has inspired countless legions of musicians and activists for well over three decades,” says’ Inner Edge Music.

“Billy Bragg has this aura and stage presence that is such that you cannot help but listen to everything this guy says on the stage,” writes’ Buzz Magazine

Bragg will take to the stage at Cardigan Castle on Wednesday, July 24. Doors open at 7pm, with music from 8pm.

Tickets are £22.50 and are available now from Theatr Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, online at mwldan.co.uk or via the Mwldan app.
