SMALL World Theatre’s aerial circus school is looking to hit new heights.
Classes for the regular aerial classes and the recently introduced aerial yoga have both proved very popular at the Cardigan venue, attracting all age ranges and abilities, both able-bodied and disabled, with around 60 people a week ‘taking to the skies’.
Aerial school instructor Dr Jess Allen said: “Each group gets something different out of it. The common goal is that people want to fly and push themselves but you have to be fairly disciplined and committed.
“It gives people a tremendous sense of achievement and is empowering people to set their own goals and see what level they can reach.
“But the important thing is that it is such good fun and people enjoy it – it’s not a boot camp.”
The aerial circus is just one of the many things going on at Small World Theatre, which recently staged a consultation event at the venue to find out what the local community thinks of its current programme and what they would like to see in the future.
Around 60 people attended over two sessions to learn about the projects currently taking place at the theatre and to put forward suggestions and ideas for the future.
