COFFEE lovers were treated to Welsh classic Calon Lan, sung by local schoolchildren, at the official opening of Milford Haven's new drive-thru coffee shop.

Mayor Cllr Rose Gray cut the ribbon, and welcomed customers keen to see Costa Coffee's new branch near Haven's Head retail park.

Pupils from Milford Haven CP, dressed in red for St Davids Day, sang a medley of pop hits and classic Welsh songs, while Pure West DJ entertained inside the store.

The first customer through to pull into the drive-thru at 5.30am was David Jones on his 1968 Massey Ferguson.

He was followed by a further 91 drive-through customers in the first few hours of being open.

Store manager Ashley Jenkins said there had been a warm welcome from the community and said he and his 14-strong team would be doing their bit for the local area in return.

Staff will be undertaking regular litter picks, and are also aiming to recycle 95 per cent of all their cups, coffee granules and surplus food.
