DWINDLING customer numbers look to have prompted the closure of yet another high street banking branch.

A letter, sent to Barclays customers in Milford Haven, says the Hamilton Terrace branch will close on Friday, July 12.

The letter reads: "The decision to close a branch is never an easy one, however we are finding fewer customers are using the branch for their everyday banking.

"Taking into consideration the alternative ways to bank that are available in the area, we have made the decision to close the branch."

Narberth's branch will also close on June 28, and Pembroke will lose its branch of Barclays on July 5.

Fishguard and St Davids lost their branches in 2018.

Stephanie Dibble, Barclays Community Banking Director for the area said: “The way customers undertake their banking is changing as people increasingly use online, telephone and mobile devices.

"At Barclays Milford Haven branch, customer usage has continued to decline, which is why we have taken the difficult decision to close it. (14% in the last 24 months)

"We hope that the availability of our other branches at Barclays Haverfordwest, Barclays Tenby and access to banking services at the local Post Office currently located at 55 Charles Street, Milford Haven, along with our range of digital channels will help to ease the transition for our customers.”
