MILFORD Waterfront is one of six Welsh projects to be showcased at an international property event in Cannes this month.

Plans for the Port of Milford Haven's 'vibrant waterfront destination' will go on show to the rest of the world at the MIPIM property event in France.

Recent developments such as the opening of a Costa Coffee drive-thru, and floating cabins due to open later this year, are included in the plans.

Other focuses include a 100-bedroom hotel on the site the old Ice Factory site, and a 10,000-square ft immersive digital leisure attraction, both of which would be subject to planning permission.

The Waterfront development is part of a £1.9bn Welsh portfolio which "presents a real opportunity for international investors to capitalise on our nation’s innovation and expertise" said Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns.

He said: “I’m delighted to present a broad range of projects across all parts of Wales which demonstrate our strengths in sectors ranging from tourism to business and clean energy generation.

"Each opportunity showcases what makes our beautiful, resourceful country such an attractive destination for investment and business and I look forward to discussing them further with potential investors.”

The Port says the Waterfront development represents its ambition to significantly increase visitor numbers to Milford Haven, drawing on and supporting the thriving tourism industry in Pembrokeshire by developing a leisure-led, mixed-use destination that significantly expands the facilities and assets surrounding the existing 300-berth marina.

Neil Jenkins, Development Director for the Port, said: “Being acknowledged as one of the leading developments not only in Wales but in the UK is an incredible recognition for Milford Waterfront.

"This is a bold project but one that we are passionate about.

"It forms part of a wider business strategy to diversify into new markets and create new economic opportunities not just for the Port but for the entire region.

"We have a fantastic opportunity to revitalise the marina and docks and create a unique destination that Pembrokeshire and Wales can be proud of and we are excited to be showcasing that at MIPIM.”
