A LITTER pick will take place in Neyland this weekend.

Meet at St Clement's Church at 10.30am on Saturday, March 23, and help tidy up the town.

Litter pick sticks and and bags provided.

The event is hosted by Plastic Free Neyland, which is supported by Neyland Town Council.

Last year, councillor Adam Pollard-Powell approached every shop, pub, coffee shop and restaurant in Neyland to spread the plastic-free message.

The aim is to encourage businesses to reduce the amount of single-use plastics they use, such as carrier bags, plastic straws, cups and takeaway containers and replace them with non-plastic alternatives.

Any business that cuts out three items of single use plastic can claim a "plastic free champion" certificate and plaque.

"Several businesses in Neyland are doing a great job in reducing plastic use," said Cllr Pollard-Powell.

"Special mention to Hubbard's newsagent which is selling milk in glass bottles and Snack Snack cafe which offers wooden stirrers, paper straws and thick paper bags."
