THE Riverside Café at Newcastle Emlyn has reopened its door this week – five months after being flooded during Storm Callum.

Customers were finally welcomed back through the doors on Tuesday (March 19) after repairs and refurbishment were carried out to the café which is tucked away next to the bridge over the River Teifi.

At the height of Storm Callum last October, much of the building was under water and suffered extensive damage, along with many neighbouring properties.

A huge crowd-funding appeal was launched to help rebuild the business and owners Radhika Kelly and Karuna Hinchliffe had hoped to be back up and running around Christmas.

But they finally opened again this week and said: “It’s seemed like ages but it’s great to be back and we just want to say a big thank you to all those who have supported us.”
