Smashing a house window resulted in multiple fractures for the man who kicked it after he became the victim of GBH.

Aaron Davies, of Britannia Drive, Pembroke Dock, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, March 26.

Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, said Davies, 22, was sitting in a Hakin property with a woman when the window was smashed by a man outside on September 28.

Davies ran after the man who kicked it, and the complainant stated the pair shook hands after an amicable conversation before returning to the property where the assault occurred.

Mr Pritchard-Jones said: “The complainant says he did not see the punch coming because the defendant was standing to his right.

“Out of the blue he was struck with a very heavy blow to his face and fell to the pavement.”

The victim was found to have multiple fractures to his eye-socket and a fractured nose when taken to hospital.

Mr Pritchard-Jones added: “It was one punch, but there was considerable provocation. The man was sitting in this house when the window was kicked through.”

Katy Hanson, defending, said Davies chased down two men he did not know when he left the property, and caught up with the complainant who had fallen over.

“He brought him back to the house saying he was going to phone the police.

“He does not accept that there was an amicable conversation or shaking hands. They went back to the property and there was an argument. He accepts he punched him. He says it was as a result of the complainant saying something to him.

“It was one punch.”

“This has weighed extremely heavily on him since he was arrested for this matter.”

Magistrates decided their sentencing powers were insufficient and Davies will next appear at Swansea crown court on April 26.

He was released on unconditional bail.
