MILFORD Haven School pupils recently learned all about the dangers of tombstoning.
The activity – jumping from height into water – carries serious risks such as hidden dangers in the water, strong currents, cold water, and unexpected depths.
‘WAVE’, a multi-agency event, gave young people advice on the different scenarios and hazards involved.
Milford Haven Port Authority, Milford Youth Matters, Dyfed Powys Police, the RNLI and West Wales Fire Service all joined forces to deliver workshops highlighting the dangers to pupils.
Posting on Facebook, Milford Haven School wrote: “They promoted safe ways that young people can enjoy our beautiful coast, practised risk assessment, responses to emergency situations, discussed peer pressure and looked at the hidden dangers beneath our local water ways.
“A huge thank you to everyone involved, especially the young people who attended as they were all a credit to themselves and the school.”
