FRIENDS and family gathered at the Fisherman’s Rest in Cardigan to celebrate the 99th birthday of WWII RAF veteran John Armstrong.
Staff and guests dressed up in period clothes from the 1920s to the current day to mark each decade of John’s life, while musical entertainment was laid on by an Elvis Presley tribute act.
Rather than presents, John, from Llechryd, asked for donations to Cardigan Cancer Care and £220 was raised on the day.
John said: “It was a wonderful party and thanks to Jane and all at the Fisherman's Rest.
“I had 54 cards - eight up on last year - and many donations for Cardigan Cancer Care, in lieu of gifts. Also thanks to my daughter Janet for her part in the arrangements and to her and Eric travelling 300 miles from Cornwall for a few days with me.
“Do not mention 100!”
