AN extension including a squash court was approved following a visit to the site at Llanbadarn Fawr.

Ceredigion county councillors deferred that application from Andrew and Catrin Davies of Caer Madyn after neighbours raised objections about noise and privacy at last month’s development control meeting.

The application to demolish a single story outbuilding and replace it with a two-storey section to house a living room, lounge, and squash court at ground floor level, and two bedrooms, all opening off an internal balcony area was approved on September 11.

At that meeting Cllr Lyndon Lloyd said that the site inspection panel had “come to the same conclusion as officers” which was that the application was “reasonable and acceptable.”

Mr Davies confirmed at the site visit that the squash court was for family only and trees and screening will remain in place.

Cllr Wyn Thomas, who visited the site, added: “I saw this application as an acceptable one.”

The application will be approved subject to conditions.

An application for a partially-built agricultural shed on the same site was once again refused.

This shed was refused planning permission in July 2017, and an appeal against the decision was dismissed in May 2017 with the resulting enforcement notice appealed in April this year.

The site inspection panel found there was “still insufficient justification from an agricultural perspective for the building and as such unanimously recommended that the application be refused.”

A proposal to allow permission was put forward at Wednesday’s meeting but was not approved.

“People will be building sheds all over the county and hoping for the best when they come to this committee.

“I would reject this and ask for another application that’s more appropriate to the needs,” said Cllr Ceredig Davies.
