A WEATHER warning with a risk of flooding has been issued by the Met Office for the Cardigan area on Friday and Saturday.

The yellow alert for torrential rain and strong winds covers moist of Wales and runs from noon on Friday (October 25) until midnight on Saturday (October 26).

A Met Office spokesman said: “Rain is expected to arrive across parts of the UK during Friday and become heavy and persistent, this is especially true for high ground exposed to the strong south-westerly wind.

“There remains some uncertainty to the locations likely to see the highest rainfall totals. This rain is expected to continue falling in similar areas for around 24 hours. As such during this period 40-60 mm of rain is likely, with perhaps as much as 100 mm over higher ground.”

It added there could be delays or cancellations to train and bus services and that spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads and power cuts.
