MILFORD Haven’s Torch Theatre will have a new boss early next year.

Benjamin Lloyd will be joining the Torch Theatre as executive director, following five years at the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse theatres where he is currently Producer.

Ben has worked with many of the UK’s leading theatrical producers from Headlong and the National Theatre to Shakespeare’s Globe and National Theatre Wales.

In this new role at the Torch, Ben will work alongside Artistic Director Peter Doran, and the board of trustees to continue to build and develop the theatre's artistic and commercial strategic objectives.

Peter said: "We are all looking forward to Ben arriving and working with the team, it’s the start of a new chapter for the Torch Theatre and with Ben’s pedigree we are confident the future will be a bright one."

Born in Carmarthen and raised in Newcastle Emlyn, as a child Ben spent weekends with his grandparents in Honeyborough Green, Neyland and feels a deep sense of pride for and affinity with The Torch and the people of Pembrokeshire.

Ben said: “I am privileged and excited to take up the role of Executive Director at the Torch Theatre. It is a genuine thrill to be ‘coming home’ to South West Wales to lead the Torch’s dedicated team.

“The theatre is a precious resource within the local community and the arts ecology in Wales and I am looking forward to working with Peter and the Board to build on its rich history and to extend the Torch’s reach and influence within Wales and beyond.”

Ben will start at the Torch in late January 2020.
