All candidates standing in the General Election on December 12 have been invited to an event where they will be asked to spell out what they will do to protect Ceredigion in the face of undeniable impact of climate change.

The event is to be held on Wednesday, November 27 at 7.30pm in the St Mary’s Church Hall, Cardigan. Entry is free but spaces are limited.

A spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion Cardigan said: "This election should be about climate change, the most important subject facing us today. Extinction Rebellion is not aligned to any political party. The climate emergency is beyond politics.

"We are doing all we can to ensure politicians tell the truth and act now. Our planet is facing an unprecedented global emergency and ours is the final generation that can do anything about it.

"The people we elect in this election will have a major impact on the survival of our species. Their importance cannot be overestimated.

"Scientists agree we have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown, and we are in the midst of a mass extinction of our own making.

"Our event will give voters an opportunity to ask questions directly to the candidates, to be sure they understand the issues and have the clearest vision for the way ahead in the face of this emergency."
