KEIGHLEY library campaigners will next week present a petition to Bradford Council asking for services to be protected.
The Friends of Keighley’s Carnegie Library have spent several weeks collecting signatures in response to Bradford Council budget cuts.
Friends secretary Jane Lee said: “The petition urges our leaders to act now to ensure that Keighley Library remains fully operational in its current format.
“We collected over 1,800 signatures, which means councillors will discuss the matter for a maximum of 15 minutes after the chairperson of Friends has addressed the Council.”
The meeting of Bradford’s full council is due to take place on Tuesday at 4pm in Bradford City Hall.
Bradford Council has said it intends to keep all 29 of the district's libraries, but the facilities will soon offer a greater public health function, as well as library services.
