FURTHER warnings of fraudsters trying to take advantage of the current outbreak situation have been issued by Pembrokeshire County Council – this time linked to free school meals.

Last week there were warnings of vulnerable and elderly self-isolating people being targeted by scam artists across local authority areas.

Pembrokeshire County Council has warned this week of an email scam being sent to residents regarding free school meals during school closures.

An email asking for bank details to ensure free school meal support is fraudulent and should be deleted.

The scam email states: “as schools will be closing, if you’re entitled to free school meals, please send your bank details and we’ll make sure you’re supported.’”

Residents should always be wary of sending any personal or bank details in response to an unsolicited email, the council adds.
