CARDIGAN’S community helpers group – set up in response to the coronavirus crisis – has helped more than 60 people in its first few days.

And Laura Winter, manager at Cardigan swimming pool and one of those behind the scheme, is urging anyone who needs help in the Cardigan area to get in touch.

“Anyone in need can message us for help whether they are self isolating due to illness, self isolating due to being at risk or key workers who are busy working," said Laura.

“We can help with shopping, dog walking, prescriptions, anything that people may need. Please remember there is food in the shops, no-one will go without.

“Our email address is with the council, Ben Lake's office, local community nurses and advertised in the local paper. A leaflet will be going out to all Cardigan residents and surrounding but we can help anyone that needs us. We have a large team of volunteers and have helped over 60 people in our first week.

If anyone knows of anyone they feel may benefit from our help and they are not online, please let me know who they are and we can get in touch with them. Our service is completely free of charge and it is local people helping local people.”
