THE 146th annual Cardigan Bay Regatta scheduled to be held at New Quay from August 23-25 has been called off – the only time in the event’s history it has had to be cancelled apart from the two World Wars.
Honorary secretary Sara O’Brien said: Regretfully in these unprecedented times the committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the Cardigan Bay Regatta.
“We thank all our sponsors, vice-presidents and competitors who have supported us for over 140 years and to say the regatta has only previously been cancelled during the World Wars.
“We look forward to welcoming you to the 146th Cardigan Bay Regatta in August 2021. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our key workers who are doing everything they can to manage the impact of Covid-19."
