THE red carpet was rolled out in Llanelli for the premiere of the Hollywood/Bollywood production of the film ‘Jungle Cry’.

Based on the inspiring true story of 12 underprivileged and orphan children from Kalinga Institute in India’s Odisha region and their triumphant journey to the International Junior Rugby Tournament held in the UK in 2007, the rugby scenes were filmed in Wales, including at Llanelli’s Parc y Scarlets.

And among those attending the premiere and rubbing shoulders with the stars for the night was 17-year-old Crymych RFC’s Billy Howell, from Eglwyswrw, who played the captain of the Namibian side in the film after a successful audition.

He went along to the premiere - which was held just before the coronvirus restrictions kicked into place - with proud mum Clare, who was an extra in the film alongside Billy’s grandad Bill.

“It was a great night and the premiere was absolutely brilliant – we got to have our photos taken with the stars of the film and even Jonathan Davies was there, so we nabbed him too,” said Clare.

“Billy is in the film a few times, and I spotted grandad Bill and I in the crowd scenes too.”
