Officers have arrested a fifteenth person over the murder of Aya Hachem in Blackburn - this time a woman from Bolton.

The 33-year-old was detained on Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of the law student's murder and the attempted murder of a man police believe was the intended target.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "A woman has today been arrested in the latest development on the investigation into death of Aya Hachem, 19, in Blackburn.

"The 33-year-old from Bolton was detained in the area this afternoon on suspicion of Aya’s murder and the attempted murder of who police believe was the intended target."

Innocent passer-by Miss Hachem, 19, was fatally shot as she walked to Lidl supermarket on King Street near her home in Blackburn, on May 17.

The first of two shots fired from a passing vehicle hit a building but the second hit the teenager in the chest.

Officers believe Pashar Khan, who owns the Quick Tyre and Quick Shine car wash business in Whalley Banks, Blackburn, was the true target of the shooting.

It is widely believed that a dispute between two tyre companies was the cause of the shooting.

Earlier on Wednesday it was announced that five men and a woman are due to stand trial for the murder of Miss Hachem next May.

Appearing over the video links from either Preston, Styal or Altcourse prisons, the six defendants, who are all charged with murdering Miss Hachem and attempting to murder Mr Khan, only spoke to confirm their names, dates of birth and British nationalities.

They were Blackburn residents Feroz Suleman, 39, of Shear Brow, Kashif Manzoor, 24, of Shakeshaft Street, Uthman Satia, 28, and Abubakir Satia, 31, both of Oxford Close, Ayaz Hussain, 34, of, Calgary Avenue; and Judy Chapman, 26, of St Hubert’s Road in Great Harwood.
