A FURTHER 69 people have tested positive for the coronavirus across East Lancashire.

The new cases were reported in figures released by the government on Monday.

They revealed that the most new cases were discovered in Burnley, where 19 people tested positive for the virus. The borough has now seen a total of 1,158 cases.

Hyndburn saw its total figure rise by 16, bringin the total number of cases to 927 since the start of the outbreak in March.

In Blackburn with Darwen, 14 new cases brought the borough’s total to 2,624.

Pendle saw an increase of 11, making the area’s total 1,341 and the Ribble Valley’s total number of cases grew to 329 after six new infections were discovered.

Rossendale recorded the lowest number of new cases, four, with a new total of 645.
