These are the ten areas of Wales which currently have the worst Covid rates in the country.

All of the top ten have seen Covid cases in more than one in every 100 people over the last seven days.

MSOA (middle layer super output areas) data released by Public Health Wales shows the ten areas that have some of the highest rates in Wales.

The latest weekly figures reveal that four of ten worst areas in Wales are located in Caerphilly.

That includes the area with the worst Covid rate in the country, Oakdale & Pentwyn.

There have been 123 cases recorded in the seven days between September 26 and October 2 in the area.

That leaves it with a Covid case rate of 1,267.8 per 100,000 people.

The next highest rate is seen in Milford Haven West in Pembrokeshire, which has a rate of 1243.5 cases per 100,000 people after recording 95 new Covid cases in the last seven days.

Four of the top ten worst Covid rates are in Caerphilly, with Blackwood, Pontllanfraith and Pengam & Cefn Fforest joining Oakdale & Pentwyn in the list.

There were two areas in Neath Port Talbot in the list, one area of Cardiff, one area of Bridgend and an area of Rhondda Cynon Taf joining Milford Haven West on the rest of the list.

  • Glyncorrwg & Blaengwynfi, Neath Port Talbot - 1,193.7 cases per 100,000 people
  • Sandfields, Neath Port Talbot - 1,175.5 cases per 100,000 people
  • Ely East, Cardiff - 1,119.7 cases per 100,000 people
  • Tonypandy West & Clydach Vale, Rhondda Cynon Taf - 1,102.4 cases per 100,000 people
  • Pengam & Cefn Fforest, Caerphilly - 1,084.3 cases per 100,000 people
  • Blackwood, Caerphilly - 1,047.6 cases per 100,000 people
  • Pontllanfraith, Caerphilly - 1,034.6 cases per 100,000 people
  • Caerau, Bridgend - 1,003.0 cases per 100,000 people
