THE NEW year is here, and Penarth is packed with plenty of events.
As a hub for art, literature, leisure, and more it comes as no surprise that there’s an abundance of events lined up in the town for 2024.
Here is a taster of some of the big events lined up for Penarth in 2024…
Penarth chamber music festival fundraiser concert
February 25
Penarth Chamber Music Festival is hosting its annual fundraiser at Penarth Pier Pavilion on February 25.
The concert will be from 3pm with all funds raised going towards the 2024 festival (which we will share the details of once they are available).
Tickets for this fundraiser will be available from 10am on December 14, 2023.

Vale ultra and coastal trail races
April 6
The Vale of Glamorgan Ultra and Coastal Races are returning for their ninth year offering the opportunity to take in the beautiful surrounding of the coastline while enjoying a run.
The ultra race will start at 8am from Penarth Pier with the 32.5-mile route passing 19 beaches along the coast of the Vale of Glamorgan.
Alternatively, the Vale Trail is 18.5 miles and will begin at 10.30am in Barry, joining the ultra route on the seashore at Porthkerry.
There’s also a 10 mile route at 10.30am which joins both routes as they pass across Llantwit beach.

Penarth music and street food festival

Penarth Lawn Tennis Club will once more host their music and street food festival, with the event generally hosted in May.
The festival attracts thousands of people – with capacity for up to 1,300 guests – who can dance on the lawn and tuck into some tasty food or enjoy a few tipples on the day.
- The line-up for the musical acts (and the food venues taking apart) will be announced in the lead-up to this popular event.
Penarth literary festival

Penarth Literary Festival is an annual event organised by independent award-winning bookstore Griffin Books, which is based in Windsor Arcade.
While the details of Penarth Literary Festival 2024 have yet to be announced it’s generally held in June with an array of events to celebrate.
Owner of Griffin Books, Mel Griffin, praised the support shown for this year’s event, adding: “We can’t wait to do it all again next year.”

Penarth summer festival

Penarth Summer Festival dates back to the 1960s and has taken various forms over the years – with it now a weekend of summer fun for all the family.
People can expect food, fireworks, and the popular downhill derby at the event which is generally held in July (although the 2023 event was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions).
