Dear editor, I was surprised to read recently that MP Nick Ainger led a march in Pembroke demanding British jobs for British workers at the new Pembroke power station.
As he well knows, EU legislation expressly forbids discrimination in favour of local companies/workers and contracts must be awarded on cost, not on which nationals the tendering companies employ.
Nothing Mr Ainger says can alter this fact and, instead of misleading his constituents, perhaps his time would have been better spent explaining to them why he supports our EU membership (as he has made quite clear in correspondence with me and his voting in Parliament) when it undercuts the very people he affects to support.
Mr Ainger would appear to need reminding that expenses are not the only matter MPs should be honest about.
R J Green, Springfield House, The Green, Pembroke.
